Christmas at the Berglund's

Due to Steve's work schedule (again) we stayed here in Spanish Fork for the holidays. It may seem sad to be without all of the family (which it is) but we really enjoy ourselves. Steve had to work until about 2 on Thursday. After he got home we did some last minute things around the house getting ready for the evening and next day. We headed to my sister's house for our traditional dinner of fondue- it was amazing! Last year we had the oil fondue with the meats and vegetables and chocolate but this year we decided to have cheese instead of chocolate. Excellent choice- I throughly enjoyed it!!

Livi really enjoyed decorating the cookies for Santa... can't you tell!

Luke was too busy with his steak to look at the camera...

I really am not in any kind of mood these days to get my picture taken... can you tell?

After the kids went to bed we watched our traditional movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and ate apple crisp and eggnog. We helped Becca and Jesse set up the kids toys from Santa. We got home around 11:30 and headed to bed - we were tired! But then again it really doesn't take much to make me tired these days.

Friday morning we woke up at about 8 and headed back to Becca's for present opening. Of course the kids were in rare form and all over the place! We tried to take turns, like we always did in my family, but that really didn't work. It was a wonderful morning and I was spoiled by Steve (as I am every year, even when we set a limit). Steve loves his new Ipod, video games, seasons of his shows, new electric razor, and clothes. My favorite things are my new cologne, Wii Fit (which is going to come in real handy in less than 8 weeks!!), and my Spurs shirt!!

Sporting his new hoodie and Ipod!

After we left we spent the afternoon sleeping, cooking and of course watching the NBA- do you know my husband at all?! He throughly enjoyed the Cavs win over the Lakers when I was more interested in Boston's victory! I took a nice nap and watched my new Twilight movie, while Steve gave me another gift and cleaned! At about 5 Becca, Jesse, and the kids came up for Christmas dinner. The food was amazing- london broil, asparagus, rolls, mashed potatoes, salad, deviled eggs, and cheesecake pie. Overall, it was such a wonderful day and we were very blessed!

Livi absolutely loved putting her new baby in the real carseat that we just got this week. She is so excited for her little cousin to arrive!

Max, cutest little boy and Luke's identical twin!!

Me enjoying my new blanket! If you ask anyone in my family they would tell you how attached I am to my blankets- I am like a child- they go everywhere with me. My mom got me this new one for Christmas- it's amazing!

Tomorrow Steve and I head to Colorado for a quick trip. My grandpa passed away on the December 19th and his funeral is going to be on Tuesday. Although it is under sad circumstances we are excited to spend at least a little time with family!

Thanksgiving Festivities

This was a year of firsts for Steve and I. For the first time this year, we enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving at home just the two of us. We were originally planning on going to Colorado to spend the holiday with my family. But we ended up going out last month to visit my grandpa and we just didn't think it was a good idea to go again. Plus I am not really into traveling these days! So my younger sister and her boyfriend went to Colorado to be with my mom, dad, Ashton, and Kylie. Rebecca and her family spent the weekend with her husband's family. So we were left with just us!!

To be completely honest, it was such a wonderful, relaxing, and much needed weekend of rest! I feel like both Steve and I (mostly him) have been going nonstop for a while and we really don't get to spend much time together.

Wednesday: We slept in together and then got up to paint the baby's room. Steve did most of the painting - how great he is- while I did some chores and cleaning around the house. I made the pies for our dinner the next day- a delicious pumpkin and coconut cream pie just for us!! Later we took naps, ran some errands, went to my sister's for a while. Then we settled in for fun snacks and watched our newly purchased copy of Angels and Demons.

Thursday: We slept in until about 9 (which was amazing for me, since being pregnant I cannot sleep past about 7:30- good practice I guess!!). We spent most of the morning and afternoon cooking. Steve was in charge of the turkey, which neither of us had ever done before!! I did the stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, and yams. All of the food was delicious, but it was a little strange sitting at this table with all this food for just two people. After letting our food settle, we went on a walk and settled in again for another movie. This time it was The Proposal accompanied with some yummy pie!!

Friday: Steve and I got up early (well 8) to go out and hit some of the sales. We were looking for some specific things at several stores. Our biggest and most exciting purchase was a new washer and dryer! Our current set still works but it was just really time for an upgrade before the baby gets here!! We bought some movies and then headed for Babies R Us. It was a BIG mistake for Steve to leave me in there by myself while he went to FYE next door. Let's just say I left with several bags full of the CUTEST little girl clothes- my sister keeps telling me that my baby will never have to wear the same thing twice. I haven't gotten that carried away!! We got home and I took a nap and then we ate some very good leftovers. Later that evening Steve went and helped Jesse with the three kids while Becca and I went to New Moon. I have never read any of the books (and don't really plan on it) but I told Becca I would go with her. So last weekend I watched Twilight in preparations for this weekend. I will admit I did really really like the movie!!

Saturday: A day of doing nothing really! We cleared out the closet in the baby's room, organized all the clothes in the dresser, and did lots of relaxing. Becca ended up having to go into emergency surgery last night for a hernia so Steve and I became parents of 3 for a night! It was fun but showed me that I am definitely not ready for 3 kids yet!

Now back to the old grind of work and school!!

As of Recently...

A few pictures from the last several weeks...

It's been a while since I have updated the blog but I really have nothing much to blog about...

Things are still going well at school- I love being in school all day because I am so busy that I never ever have time to think about how tired I am or how much my back hurts (my only pregnany problem throughout this entire time is really bad back pain). I have a BYU student in my class for the next couple of weeks who is in the middle of the elementary education program. She is learning from my class and from me but it is a fun change of pace!
We are just getting ready for our little one to arrive in 14 weeks. I really am trying not to go overboard with baby things but Steve has recently informed me that my definition of overboard and his definition are very different! Whoops! Sorry, I feel I must inform you that there will be no belly pictures. If you want to see me you will just have to come and see me in person!

Birthday Festivities

I figured this would be a good time to update our blog since I am sitting here with some odd strand of the flu virus (not swine flu don't worry) that according to the doctor will stick around for 8 - 12 days! What was even the purpose of that flu shot a month ago? I am achy, coughy, runny and all around feeling incredibly crumby but am trying to take good care of myself and the little one inside!

My birthday was awhile ago (about 2 1/2 weeks) but I still thought I would post on what we did! I still had school that day, but with no kids. Sounds fun but no, we SAT in meetings ALL day and didn't even get to go out for lunch! After a long and less that enthusiastic day I went home to a cutely decorated home (thanks to my mom) and also extremely clean (thanks to Steve). My mom was in town to help out my sister with her kids and little Max so it was fun to spend it with her! My made me homemade chicken soup and we had a little party with the family. It was a great 24th birthday!

The Verdict Is In...

Steve and I went to our ultrasound late this afternoon to find out that we are having a...

A GIRL!!!

My doctor told me several weeks ago that he would be that it was going to bet a girl and I guess he was right! Obviously, we are super excited and you can bet that I have already bought lots of little girl things! She is perfectly healthy and everything looked great!

A Growing Bunch!

As you can see to the right our little family is growing!! A third member of our family will be joining us on or around February 19th!! Steve and I could not be more excited! And yes, I have known that I was pregnant for quite some time now but haven't really shared it with that many people. I didn't want to tell anyone at school (that many people still don't know) until the new school year was under way and then I told my principal. So far everything has gone great! I never was sick or nauseated or anything just had the usual need for lots of sleep! I am still super tired- a combination of pregnancy and teaching! We will find out the gender on Tuesday whether it is a girl or a boy... we pretty much already know based on my previous ultrasound 3 weeks ago. But we aren't going to tell you until Tuesday!

We will definitely keep you updated on this new stage of our lives!

Gardner Family Addition

Welcome to our family Max Gardner Roberts! My sister had her third little baby on Wednesday night- he weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and was only 18 inches long. He's her smalles baby yet! He is such a little cutie and looks exactly like his older brother Luke, not just like Luke did as a baby but like he does know. He has the same hair line, nose, and big full red lips! Steve was a little shy holding him at first and then didn't want to give him up. We can't wait to see him grow into a little person...

Still Alive & Kicking...

Yes, as you probably assumed by my two posts last weekend, we are still alive and well!! Things have just been pretty busy around here. Steve is back in school and therefore I don't see him until about 9 each night- by which time I am usually already in bed. So as you could have guessed we cherish our weekends!! I also started school almost a month ago- getting a good year off the ground is always a challenge. I have 25 students this year who are all quite energetic and very chatty!! It was hard to give up my little angels (they were so so so good!!) from last year but I am quickly falling in love with these ones too!!

Besides school and work we are a pretty old, boring couple! We haven't really done much exciting... of course besides the 12 days I spent with a horrible cold, cough, and sore throat! Wasn't that a treat?! My parents were in town two weekends ago and will be back this weekend because my sister will be having her third little one on Wednesday (we can't wait for little Max to join us).

Don't worry- I'll keep you updated on anything exciting!

A Colorado Wedding...

When I went to Colorado for a visit home last month (which was an awesome trip), I was able to go to my best friend Brittany's wedding. She looked absolutely beautiful and it was so fun to be there and see her join her love. It was a traditional catholic wedding which meant it was a High Mass. Overall it was very interesting and I learned some new things about her religion but in the end made me grateful for what I know and believe. Congrats Britt!

Completely awful picture but my camera was too slow as they were walking back up the aisle on their way out!

Saying their vows- a little strange that you could take pictures during this (much different than my own wedding).

Best friends from high school- Linds & Erin

My mom and I before the ceremony.

Me and little Foxx- so cute but not sure quite what to think about his rather loud aunt MooMoo. His parents are much calmer and quieter than me :)

Fiona and I giving loves- I look totally gross but she is such a doll and has such a fun and bubbly personality! Love her!!

Summer Cruise

So I know I have been totally off the map lately, but I really have to be in the mood the update my blog and I guess I'll just have to say that I haven't been in the mood for the last two months :)
Well, this cruise was almost two months ago but I still want to document what we did and the few (sorry!) pictures we took. I'm really mad at myself that we didn't take all that many pictures but our camera isn't waterproof and almost everything we did involved water- of course!
So here goes:

Steve and I left early early, like 2 am early, Sunday morning for the airport and headed for Miami. Stepping out of the airport and into the streets hit me like stepping into an oven- wow the heat and humidity!! I felt wet all the time!! So our friends Cami and Nate picked us up from the airport and we headed for our hotel. Let me just tell you, Miami... nothing like shown on tv. I was expecting to go and see this posh place with gorgeous blue water and white sands beaches- you know like shown on CSI Miami, one of my favorite shows- well, mostly I saw trailers, graffiti, pot holes, and some very interesting people.
So we spent the evening exploring, ate dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and turned in early since we were all exhausted. Monday morning was a relaxing and lazy day- we slept in, ate breakfast, got ready and packed our stuff to head for the boat. Our specific group wasn't supposed to board the ship until like 3 but we wanted to get on early and eat lunch so we boarded at about noon. The ship was very cool and our rooms left much to be desired- more like caves with no windows that rooms, but who cares all we really did was sleep in them!! Monday we explored, ate lots of yummy food, went to a comedy show, and got ready for our first day off the boat.

Tuesday:

Nassau & Paradise Island- took a ferry to the island, walked to the beach, swam in the ocean, Steve and I rented jet skis, walked through some amazing hotels (featured on the travel channel and where Miss Universe was hosted last week), and attempted to visit Michael Jordan's home there. Of course we had to do that for Steve, but his house was on the opposite side of the island and we didn't have time to get there.
Wednesday:
CocoCay Island- delicious bbq lunch, floated on mats in the water, paddle boats in the water, Steve and I snorkled (quite the experience for Steve- he was terrible!!), and did lots of relaxing.
Thursday:
Key West, FL- hottest day ever!!!! The four of us went on a several hour water tour in kayaks and swam in the water.
Friday we had to get off the boat early and Steve and I didn't have a flight until 7 that evening. So Cami and Nate were so wonderful to stay some extra hours in Miami with us and kill time. We went to some Botanical Gardens in Miami Beach- which I have to say was the much more fancy city I was looking for, went to the Harry Potter movie, visited a delicious Dunkin Donuts, and finally made it the airport around 3:30.

It was a great and relaxing week!
