Thanksgiving Festivities

This was a year of firsts for Steve and I. For the first time this year, we enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving at home just the two of us. We were originally planning on going to Colorado to spend the holiday with my family. But we ended up going out last month to visit my grandpa and we just didn't think it was a good idea to go again. Plus I am not really into traveling these days! So my younger sister and her boyfriend went to Colorado to be with my mom, dad, Ashton, and Kylie. Rebecca and her family spent the weekend with her husband's family. So we were left with just us!!

To be completely honest, it was such a wonderful, relaxing, and much needed weekend of rest! I feel like both Steve and I (mostly him) have been going nonstop for a while and we really don't get to spend much time together.

Wednesday: We slept in together and then got up to paint the baby's room. Steve did most of the painting - how great he is- while I did some chores and cleaning around the house. I made the pies for our dinner the next day- a delicious pumpkin and coconut cream pie just for us!! Later we took naps, ran some errands, went to my sister's for a while. Then we settled in for fun snacks and watched our newly purchased copy of Angels and Demons.

Thursday: We slept in until about 9 (which was amazing for me, since being pregnant I cannot sleep past about 7:30- good practice I guess!!). We spent most of the morning and afternoon cooking. Steve was in charge of the turkey, which neither of us had ever done before!! I did the stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, and yams. All of the food was delicious, but it was a little strange sitting at this table with all this food for just two people. After letting our food settle, we went on a walk and settled in again for another movie. This time it was The Proposal accompanied with some yummy pie!!

Friday: Steve and I got up early (well 8) to go out and hit some of the sales. We were looking for some specific things at several stores. Our biggest and most exciting purchase was a new washer and dryer! Our current set still works but it was just really time for an upgrade before the baby gets here!! We bought some movies and then headed for Babies R Us. It was a BIG mistake for Steve to leave me in there by myself while he went to FYE next door. Let's just say I left with several bags full of the CUTEST little girl clothes- my sister keeps telling me that my baby will never have to wear the same thing twice. I haven't gotten that carried away!! We got home and I took a nap and then we ate some very good leftovers. Later that evening Steve went and helped Jesse with the three kids while Becca and I went to New Moon. I have never read any of the books (and don't really plan on it) but I told Becca I would go with her. So last weekend I watched Twilight in preparations for this weekend. I will admit I did really really like the movie!!

Saturday: A day of doing nothing really! We cleared out the closet in the baby's room, organized all the clothes in the dresser, and did lots of relaxing. Becca ended up having to go into emergency surgery last night for a hernia so Steve and I became parents of 3 for a night! It was fun but showed me that I am definitely not ready for 3 kids yet!

Now back to the old grind of work and school!!

So glad you were able to have such a fun relaxing weekend with just the two of you. Take advantage of it as much as you can before the baby comes! And, I know you don't want to post "belly" pictures, but what about just full length pictures of yourself? Just so we can get an idea...?! :) Oh, and I'm hoping you'll be posting pictures of the baby room? Maybe we just need to come down to visit in person. :)

I wish we had your weekend! Mine was stressful with family. Staying home and relaxing is always so nice when you're busy all the time. I would so not be ready for three. One at a time is much easier!
