One Month

I can't believe that my little baby is one month already!! She is just a good little baby, we are very blessed and very grateful!! Yesterday I took her to get some pictures taken- and to say the least, it was interesting! She either wouldn't stay awake and if she was she was crying (which she never does!).
Here is a little bit about our cute girl:
- At her two week appointment she only weighed 7 lb. 14 oz. Which means she wasn't even back up to her birth weight yet. The doctor was a little concerned so we have to go back tomorrow to make sure she is gaining weight. But she does have acid reflux (which is the one thing that has not been fun) so she went through a period of time that she was spitting up everything she ate. So that's why she weighed so little. Hopefully she's back up to normal tomorrow!
- She has her daddy's head... small. I don't remember the exact measurement, but its only in the 30 percentile.
- She loves to have her legs rubbed! It will always calm her down!
- She loves to take baths and have her hair washed. Even though she is quite wiggly and slippery, so it's hard for me!
- She loves the sound of the shower! Sometimes I set her in her bouncer seat while I take a shower and she just sits there looking around and listening.
-She is incredibly strong. She has such a strong neck... when she is supposed to be burping she likes to lift her head and look around. She also has such strong arms and legs. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to hurt her when I have to move her arms to get her strapped into her car seat because I have to pull them.
- She is a good little sleeper. She takes 3 good solid naps a day. A morning nap from 9-11, an afternoon nap from 12:45ish - 4, and then an evening nap from about 5 to 6 or so. Then she just stays awake all by herself until she goes to bed. She goes to bed at 8:30 and only gets up once between 4 and 5. But last night she slept all the way until 6:30- we'll see if that was luck or real!
- She has such a calm personality. She just likes to sit in her bouncer or lay on a blanket and look around. Last night she sat and looked around for an hour last night while a cooked dinner. I never even heard a peep from her!
Here are a few of the pictures that were taken yesterday- I get the rest next week!

This is one of my favorites!

This is when she was supposed to by laying on her hands. She had no interest in doing that- she just wanted to hold her head up and look around!

She was wanting to do this the whole time!!

Our New Arrival

I'm sure that most of you already know, but our little Hadley was born last Monday. Hadley Renee Berglund was born at 9:55 am on February 15. She weighed 8 lb. 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. She is perfect in every way!

My water broke on Sunday night at about 10:30 and after calling my doctor to make sure that's what had happened (that may sound dumb, but it wasn't a big gush of water it was like a small but constant trickle), we headed to the hospital. After taking a while to fully dialate, the doctor came in, and 6 pushes later we had our beautiful baby girl! Although my labor was longer than I had hoped it would be, it really was very easy and smooth. I am grateful for that! Looking back I think that it seemed to have gone so fast and really wasn't bad.

Of course it was love at first sight! I have never seen Steve like this before. Little Hadley had him wrapped around his finger in seconds. He is so sweet and tender with her and is so helpful and willing to do anything because he just can't get enough! I can already see that she is going to be a MAJOR daddy's girl...

We came home on Wednesday and things have been wonderful. My mom had been here to help and she is leaving tomorrow. We have been so blessed with her amazing help! Steve went back to work today, so starting tomorrow we'll see if I can do this all on my own during the day! I love being home with her and am already dreading the day in 7 weeks when I have to go back to school and leave her.

Well, that's us for now. We'll make sure to keep you updated!

Hadley- about 3 hours old.

Snuggling with mom- day 2 at the hospital.

Leaving the hospital- Wednesday, Feb. 17th

In her crib for the first time :)

Very relaxed...

5 days old- photo shoot with grandma. She has this horrible scratch in her face, it happened in the hospital and it is taking forever to get better!!

Too cute!!

Christmas at the Berglund's

Due to Steve's work schedule (again) we stayed here in Spanish Fork for the holidays. It may seem sad to be without all of the family (which it is) but we really enjoy ourselves. Steve had to work until about 2 on Thursday. After he got home we did some last minute things around the house getting ready for the evening and next day. We headed to my sister's house for our traditional dinner of fondue- it was amazing! Last year we had the oil fondue with the meats and vegetables and chocolate but this year we decided to have cheese instead of chocolate. Excellent choice- I throughly enjoyed it!!

Livi really enjoyed decorating the cookies for Santa... can't you tell!

Luke was too busy with his steak to look at the camera...

I really am not in any kind of mood these days to get my picture taken... can you tell?

After the kids went to bed we watched our traditional movie, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and ate apple crisp and eggnog. We helped Becca and Jesse set up the kids toys from Santa. We got home around 11:30 and headed to bed - we were tired! But then again it really doesn't take much to make me tired these days.

Friday morning we woke up at about 8 and headed back to Becca's for present opening. Of course the kids were in rare form and all over the place! We tried to take turns, like we always did in my family, but that really didn't work. It was a wonderful morning and I was spoiled by Steve (as I am every year, even when we set a limit). Steve loves his new Ipod, video games, seasons of his shows, new electric razor, and clothes. My favorite things are my new cologne, Wii Fit (which is going to come in real handy in less than 8 weeks!!), and my Spurs shirt!!

Sporting his new hoodie and Ipod!

After we left we spent the afternoon sleeping, cooking and of course watching the NBA- do you know my husband at all?! He throughly enjoyed the Cavs win over the Lakers when I was more interested in Boston's victory! I took a nice nap and watched my new Twilight movie, while Steve gave me another gift and cleaned! At about 5 Becca, Jesse, and the kids came up for Christmas dinner. The food was amazing- london broil, asparagus, rolls, mashed potatoes, salad, deviled eggs, and cheesecake pie. Overall, it was such a wonderful day and we were very blessed!

Livi absolutely loved putting her new baby in the real carseat that we just got this week. She is so excited for her little cousin to arrive!

Max, cutest little boy and Luke's identical twin!!

Me enjoying my new blanket! If you ask anyone in my family they would tell you how attached I am to my blankets- I am like a child- they go everywhere with me. My mom got me this new one for Christmas- it's amazing!

Tomorrow Steve and I head to Colorado for a quick trip. My grandpa passed away on the December 19th and his funeral is going to be on Tuesday. Although it is under sad circumstances we are excited to spend at least a little time with family!

Thanksgiving Festivities

This was a year of firsts for Steve and I. For the first time this year, we enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving at home just the two of us. We were originally planning on going to Colorado to spend the holiday with my family. But we ended up going out last month to visit my grandpa and we just didn't think it was a good idea to go again. Plus I am not really into traveling these days! So my younger sister and her boyfriend went to Colorado to be with my mom, dad, Ashton, and Kylie. Rebecca and her family spent the weekend with her husband's family. So we were left with just us!!

To be completely honest, it was such a wonderful, relaxing, and much needed weekend of rest! I feel like both Steve and I (mostly him) have been going nonstop for a while and we really don't get to spend much time together.

Wednesday: We slept in together and then got up to paint the baby's room. Steve did most of the painting - how great he is- while I did some chores and cleaning around the house. I made the pies for our dinner the next day- a delicious pumpkin and coconut cream pie just for us!! Later we took naps, ran some errands, went to my sister's for a while. Then we settled in for fun snacks and watched our newly purchased copy of Angels and Demons.

Thursday: We slept in until about 9 (which was amazing for me, since being pregnant I cannot sleep past about 7:30- good practice I guess!!). We spent most of the morning and afternoon cooking. Steve was in charge of the turkey, which neither of us had ever done before!! I did the stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, and yams. All of the food was delicious, but it was a little strange sitting at this table with all this food for just two people. After letting our food settle, we went on a walk and settled in again for another movie. This time it was The Proposal accompanied with some yummy pie!!

Friday: Steve and I got up early (well 8) to go out and hit some of the sales. We were looking for some specific things at several stores. Our biggest and most exciting purchase was a new washer and dryer! Our current set still works but it was just really time for an upgrade before the baby gets here!! We bought some movies and then headed for Babies R Us. It was a BIG mistake for Steve to leave me in there by myself while he went to FYE next door. Let's just say I left with several bags full of the CUTEST little girl clothes- my sister keeps telling me that my baby will never have to wear the same thing twice. I haven't gotten that carried away!! We got home and I took a nap and then we ate some very good leftovers. Later that evening Steve went and helped Jesse with the three kids while Becca and I went to New Moon. I have never read any of the books (and don't really plan on it) but I told Becca I would go with her. So last weekend I watched Twilight in preparations for this weekend. I will admit I did really really like the movie!!

Saturday: A day of doing nothing really! We cleared out the closet in the baby's room, organized all the clothes in the dresser, and did lots of relaxing. Becca ended up having to go into emergency surgery last night for a hernia so Steve and I became parents of 3 for a night! It was fun but showed me that I am definitely not ready for 3 kids yet!

Now back to the old grind of work and school!!

As of Recently...

A few pictures from the last several weeks...

It's been a while since I have updated the blog but I really have nothing much to blog about...

Things are still going well at school- I love being in school all day because I am so busy that I never ever have time to think about how tired I am or how much my back hurts (my only pregnany problem throughout this entire time is really bad back pain). I have a BYU student in my class for the next couple of weeks who is in the middle of the elementary education program. She is learning from my class and from me but it is a fun change of pace!
We are just getting ready for our little one to arrive in 14 weeks. I really am trying not to go overboard with baby things but Steve has recently informed me that my definition of overboard and his definition are very different! Whoops! Sorry, I feel I must inform you that there will be no belly pictures. If you want to see me you will just have to come and see me in person!

Birthday Festivities

I figured this would be a good time to update our blog since I am sitting here with some odd strand of the flu virus (not swine flu don't worry) that according to the doctor will stick around for 8 - 12 days! What was even the purpose of that flu shot a month ago? I am achy, coughy, runny and all around feeling incredibly crumby but am trying to take good care of myself and the little one inside!

My birthday was awhile ago (about 2 1/2 weeks) but I still thought I would post on what we did! I still had school that day, but with no kids. Sounds fun but no, we SAT in meetings ALL day and didn't even get to go out for lunch! After a long and less that enthusiastic day I went home to a cutely decorated home (thanks to my mom) and also extremely clean (thanks to Steve). My mom was in town to help out my sister with her kids and little Max so it was fun to spend it with her! My made me homemade chicken soup and we had a little party with the family. It was a great 24th birthday!
